Cross-Cultural Management Group
|

Globalization has come a long way towards allowing for the free movement of people, goods, services and capital across borders. Institutions, organizations, businesses and individuals, can operate, compete and coexist within supranational societies of citizens with divergent cultural backgrounds. This reality is reflected in the complexity of the business, governance and administrative environment demanding a high level of cultural competency. More than "cultural awareness" is needed by organizations and their management. Advanced cross-cultural know-how, directly related to the challenges executives are constantly confronted with, that can potentially become an organizational resource is essential. The EMRBI CCM-RIC aims to examine all culture-related organizational issues and develop new knowledge on the grounds of which management's effectiveness in international and domestic settings will be improved. In this respect, the RIC welcomes research proposals, debates and any other form of interactions.

Ethics and Social Responsibility Group
|
|
The ecological and socio-economic circumstances of today's world have driven us to elaborate new means of understanding finance so that it may act as a tool for change and an opportunity to turn profit, that is, to generate a surplus in alignment with collectively established rules. Society's heightened awareness of sustainable development issues has encouraged -companies to turn increasingly to rating agencies with a view to improving their images in this respect. Although not perfect, the recent incorporation of SRI into investment decision-making does emphasize the current trend within civil society to hold companies accountable to the community. The Ethic and Social Responsibility committee aims to promote the values necessary for creating a better world, one in which economics and finance occupy a different role within an outlook geared towards sustainable development and ethics, so as to contribute to collective welfare and to discussion surrounding what this should entail.

Mission
Successful entrepreneurship and value addition within an enterprise through open innovation strategies have adopted a paradigm shift from simple introduction of new ideas and products to accumulation of diversified actions, actors and agents along the process. Furthermore, when the innovation process is not being restricted within the closed nature of it, the process takes many forms during its evolution. Among these perspectives small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a critical role in the transformation process for business promotion, value addition and economic gain in a country. In terms of SMEs, adopting open innovation strategies for their benefit and sustenance much need to be explored, within the communities, nations and regions.

Marketing Group
|
|
The Marketing RIC envisages that during the next year its members will take up a more active role. One of the ongoing roles of the RIC is to support EMRBI to become a member-driven institute, meaning that the main activities of EMRBI should revolve around the initiatives of our committee also. Moreover, as a primary goal it will strive to broaden its membership list members, and through this network initiate academic dialogue and advance scholarly knowledge in a variety of themes within the Marketing discipline. Furthermore, as a secondary but equally important goal will be to collaborate and exchange expertise in a number of areas focusing more on the pursuit of European funding opportunities under the umbrella of the EuroMed Institute.

Multinational R&D, embeddedness, and innovation Group
|
|
In the actual scenario of high technological competitiveness and environmental complexity, MNEs focus the attention on the R&D activities. The context is more and more dominated by a strong and growing competition between companies among their global forcing organisations to move the focus of competitive advantage from the classical sources to new strategies.
In this context, this research committee have several aims: to investigate the choice of locating in a specific place and the level of satisfaction that MNEs give after the settlement; how MNEs manage many interactions within their group, in particular at subsidiary level; how MNEs face different kind of embeddedness. |

Tourism Group
|
|
The Tourism Research Group results from an informal network between some scholars in Europe and aims to enhance the benefits of mutual co-operation by the involvement of young and prominent scholars. In the first two years the aims have been to support and advice group members in co-joint publications, conference information exchanges, and develop co-joint research activities. The Senior Members also act as mentors for some young scholars in providing PhD opportunities and grants. Under the proposal of Prof Ian D. Rotherham (Sheffield Hallam University, UK) there is a book project with a focus on nature ?based tourism and leisure activity involving selected group members. This research activity results as a co-operation with the International Academy of Culture, Tourism, & Hospitality Research founded by Prof Arch G. Woodside (Boston College, USA) This book will represent a major contribution to academic and practitioner literature on leisure and tourism in Europe. The book will include contributions from leading scholars such as Prof. Arch G. Woodside (Boston College; USA), Prof Richard Sharpley (University of Central Lancashire, UK), Dr Xavier Font (Leeds Metropolitan University), Prof. Gianna Moscardo (James Cook University, Australia) and Prof John Swarbrooke (Ritz College, Switzerland).

Wine Business Group
|
|
Purpose: the purpose of the Wine Business RIC is to develop research, co-publishing, organise workshops and apply for research funding.
Our RIC will try to differentiate from existing wine associations in our interaction and integration with the industry, so we are encouraging the Academia, Research and Industry interaction.
RIC members agreed that collaboration with the industry and the applicability of academic research should be an element of differentiation.
The following are the main research topics identified by members:
-
The effects of globalisation in the wine industry
-
The emergence of new wine producers
-
The wine and whisky industries
-
Rural development
-
Culture and wine production
